• Repurposed devices from IT: IT can reset and enroll existing hardware into Autopilot. When the next user receives the device, they go through the same simple experience—unbox (or power on), log in, and let Autopilot apply the correct configuration.

In both cases, the goal is to reimagine device provisioning so that setup time is minimized and IT can manage configuration centrally instead of touching every machine.

With Windows Autopilot, the experience is designed to be fast and largely automated. After a user unboxes the device and logs in, Autopilot begins applying the organization’s configuration profile.

Within minutes, the device starts receiving the appropriate apps, policies, and settings defined by IT. The exact time depends on factors like network speed and the number of applications, but the process is intended to significantly reduce the manual steps and delays that typically come with traditional imaging and setup.
